Office Star ST203 BACKLESS STOOL WITH SADDLE SEAT AND SEAT ANGLE ADJUSTMENT HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT 19 INCH TO 24 INCH Reviews
If you can get over looking a bit odd while sitting in this chair, it's great for posture. Have noticed I have better posture and feel new muscles supporting my core. Sometimes it tough to go backless but reminds me to get up more frequently an stretch my legs.
First, I want to be very clear about something: this is NOT a sit/stand stool. I am only 5'2" tall, even at its tallest height is too short for me to use it as a sit/stand stool. If you intend to sit in a saddle stool with your legs to the front and your knees only slightly bent in sit/stand style, you need the ST205, not the ST203.That said, the ST203 has turned out to be an excellent desk-height saddle stool. If you adjust it to the 30-degree angle, and sit in it leaning slightly forward with your knees bent in front of you so your feet are tucked under you (and not really bearing any weight, although your toes may touch the ground), you get the back/posture benefits of a saddle seat, but you get to do it at a normal desk instead of needing a special "standing" desk.Initially I was disappointed that my ST203 wasn't tall enough to be a sit/stand stool, but now I find I like it better because (unlike a sit/stand stool) you don't need a special desk to use it.
I've been trying this thing out for a while before posting a review. I'll keep it short.I noticed all the reviews were from females, so I was a bit worried how this would work out for GUYS.Here's the deal ... Guys probably won't have a problem with it, as long as they use some common sense, and as long as you arent too "oversized" (ego size doesn't count). Dont just slam down on the chair, and don't try to lean forward to pick a pencil up :)Actually, you can lean forward with no problem if the chair is TILTED or if the TILT KNOB is left unscrewed/loose. After using the chair for a couple weeks, I find the latter is preferable. As for comfort, its not too bad - but may take some getting used to. Circulation in the legs will work a bit different in this chair, since it sits more toward the inside-back of your legs. Hard to explain, but you can imagine by the picture. Anyhow, use this chair part-time for the first few days, to give your circulation time to adjust.Otherwise, its fine. I like it :)PS - I'm using this as a computer chair, and its good for that purpose.
I bought this stool to use at the piano, since standard piano stools and benches, even the most expensive, are too short for me and put my arms and shoulders at a bad angle over the keyboard. When I raise this to its full 24" it just fits the bill, and makes practice more comfortable for me. I may want to try it at my desk at some point, too, since I use a computer all day at work.
